Trucks and Fine Scale Modeling

Trucks and Fine Scale Modeling

My good friend who owns Maine Model Works in Falmouth, Maine builds a bunch of dioramas every year and for the last three years he has built one for me to use at the Fall and Winter shows where I display my trucks. Here's some photos of the diorama used at the Model Expo at Peabody.

New Pulp Wood Load Castings

New Pulp Wood Load Castings

Here's the new laser cut #95802 Stake Body made into a pulp body for the new #26299 Pulp Load castings. The truck is a 1940s C-100 (kit 3 95106) with a diesel engine. This would be a typical set-up for hauling pulpwood from the woods into the mill IN THE 1950s.

Contractor's Flat Trailer

Contractor's Flat Trailer

This 32 foot trailer was made with two 95802 laser cut styrene kits, actually one and a half. In this set of images a 1940s Autocar C-90 tractor owned by a wrecker service is pulling the trailer, that's the reason for the big pusher bumper.

New Stake Body Kit 95802

New Stake Body Kit 95802

This new kit has a laser cut styrene floor with the stake pockets cut in. Easy to build, not flash to clean up like the urethane kit.
This truck represents what you might have seen in the 1940s and 50s. Empty barrels had to be delivered to manufactures who would fill them with their product and send them out in a different truck. Trucks like this also picked up empty barrels and 55 gallon steel drums, cleaned and painted them and sold them as a used product. Too bad, these guys didn't know what recycling was but the did it.
